No Child Left Inside is a movement began in 2006 by (and is a registered trademark of) the CT Department of Energy & Environmental Protection which "is a promise to introduce children to the wonder of nature - for their own health and well-being, for the future of environmental conservation, and for the the preservation of the beauty, character and communities of the great State of Connecticut." Since then, many other groups have adopted the phrase (with and without permission) to describe similar efforts. The No Child Left Inside Act is pending legislation that seeks to strengthen No Child Left Behind () by encouraging states to develop an Environmental Literacy Plan and by proving funding for teacher development and national capacity building in environmental education.
