The mission of the New England Environmental Education Alliance is to promote quality environmental
education across New England in partnership with the state environmental education organizations.

Objectives

  • Provide regional professional development opportunities
    Strategy: Host conferences, retreats and workshops, for environmental education practitioners, administrators, and state environmental education (EE) board members;
  • Recognize exemplary environmental educators and programs in New England
    Strategy: Annual awards program
  • Provide current EE information and resources
    Strategies: Publish New England Journal of Environmental Education, Maintain Glossary Link NEEEA website, create and maintain NEEEA list serve and mailing list, via state organization newsletters, be an active Glossary Link NAAEE affiliate
  • Assist state EE organizations growth and development
    Strategies: All of the above!

Accomplishments

  • Provided support and guidance for states hosting the NEEEA Annual Conference, working with the RI Conference Committee to finish the last details of a successful 2006 conference, the ME Conference Committee to support the organization of the 2007 conference and the NH Conference Committee on the 2008 conference.
  • Following the transformation of the NEEEA list to a true moderated listserve, NEEEA continued to nurture the listserve as an important regional communication tool.
  • Hosted an Environmental Education Administrators Retreat at Tower Hill Botanical Garden.
  • Planned a State Leadership Retreat for November 2007.
  • Presented the annual NEEEA awards for Environmental Education at the 2007 conference.
  • Continued the electronic publication of the New England Journal of Environmental Education ( Glossary Link NEJEE) articles on the NEEEA website.
